New bhoy Holmbert Aron Fridjonsson is looking to make a quick impact on Celtic.
The Icelandic striker will be available from January 1 and is looking to make an instant impression on Neil Lennon.
Celtic have struggled to find a consistent goal scoring partnership since Gary Hooper left in the summer despite the arrivals of Teemu Pukki and Amido Balde.
Fridjonsson scored 10 goals in 20 appearances for Fram whose domestic season finished at the end of September.
“I will try to score goals and hopefully I can do that for the Celtic fans,” he said yesterday after signing. “This is just the biggest step-up and I’m delighted.
“The physical side will be more here so I just need to get in the team and hopefully I can adapt pretty well.
“I can play up alone, I can hold up the ball well and link players to the game. “I’ve got good technique, I’m good in the air and I’ve got a good left foot.”
He added: “I will get to know the boys better and train with them and see how it works. I think I can be ready. I just have to work hard, I’m not going to walk into the team, that’s for sure.
“The facilities here are excellent. I’m used to Iceland and it’s just a hobby there almost.
“Everything is much better here. With these facilities, you can just get much better if you train there every day.
“I spoke to the manager yesterday and got good feedback from him. I think he can help me a lot.”
I don’t see anything in that video that makes me think big Frid is going to be banging in goals at first team level as soon as he arrives.
Best of luck to him, but I really, really think we need a centre forward that can score goals now- not in a few weeks / months/ years time.
have to agree, bar 1 goal he looks rank average from these, not quick, not particularly strong, technique not great, no headers ??? obviously celtic have seen something though. good luck to the boy. hh.
pa,
I agree.we need a quality striker big time.i wish the bhoy well, and hope he makes it.
as a club we are at a crossroads,do we spend 10 M ,on a striker and a quality No.
10 playmaker,or do we sit tight, and hope Baldi and Pukki come good.
I feel we are not far off being a team capable of challenging EVERY season for
the last 16 of CL,if we spend the money.
I also feel we should be looking more to championship and first div. in england for
players.yes, you pay a bit more but they know the british type game.
Last Sunday, I watched Bradford v Coventry Nhaki Wells for Bradford did more in that one game, than Balde and pukki have done in all their games put together.
He scored a pocher’s hat-trick and also hit the bar. at 23, with over 1 and a years left on his contract, he could cost 3M, but I would say money well spent !!
Anyone can be made to look good on an edited video, I’ll reserve my judgement on the bhoy until I see him play for us.
A big welcome to the best club in the world. Hail hail
He’s a big lad, maybe that’s just what we need up front.
Ability wise I would rather trust Lenny and the CP scouting team than a video montage, as has been said, they can flatter to deceive, I’m confident they have a good idea as to where he will fit into the squad.
Welcome to Paradise Holbert.
Hail! Hail!
Ps. We need to make sure Stokes doesn’t find out his middle name’s Aron or there may be trouble ahead.
HH
Nice to see the site live up to its name.
He would get all shook up ; )
