It was fitting that Celtic signed off from 2013 with a winning goal from Kris Commons.
With his 15th strike of the season the £300,000 steal from Derby County drilled a low shot through the legs of Dean Brill to ensure that Celtic maintained their unbeaten record going into the new year.
Other than that third minute goal there was little to cheer the hoops support with the few chances created almost always revolving around Commons.
“He is wonderful and he is in wonderful form,” Neil Lennon admitted. “I thought the goal was brilliant and when you see Kris in those positions you get disappointed when he doesn’t score, he’s that good at it.
“That is 15 for the season for us now, so he has been absolutely huge for me in the past couple of years and I think he will only get better.
“With the pitch being heavy as it is, it is very difficult to play quick football, the ball bobbled quite a bit. It is the winter, the conditions are going to prove to be difficult.”
After fifteen wins and three draws Celtic will feel the pressure week by week as they attempt to lengthen their unbeaten run.
Other than through Commons, goals seem hard to come by for the current Celtic side which places extra focus on the defensive area of the team.
Six domestic clean sheets in succession have contributed greatly to the recent winning run which has included three single goal victories.
On Wednesday Glasgow rivals Partick Thistle first foot Celtic Park with Lennon hopeful that Charlie Mulgrew and Derk Boerrigter will be available after injury.

Feel the pressure…what pressure we are miles clear of everyone in Scotland.
Nonsense about feeling tired, pressure, poor pitches, referee decisions are just that poor excuses. If a ref gives a bad decision against us, it SHOULD inspire the team to ever greater effort (Sadly lacking true effort at the moment & still winning)
We have by far the strongest squad in Scotland, yet continue to select players who are well below their best, lacking in effort, desire, hunger but still get the nod. Imagine if we DID have a team full of fire, enthusiasm, fight and tactically astute..we can but hope.
Our biggest threats are from within……yet are being ignored.
Agree,Williebhoy re passion.
Our players are in a comfort zone.Doing
enough to get by is their mantra.I would
exclude the defence,Commons and Brown
in this.
Commons shows great passion for the
jersey, and like Broony does not lack in
effort.
Middle to front we need a major shakeup.
Middle players who can put in a shift and
play forward passes. And strikers who can
strike.
Surely this is not too much to ask for ?
But,as we know will Lawwell answer our
wishes ?
