Celtic twitter was a much happier place to be this afternoon as the hoops turned on the style to dump Hearts 7-0.
It matched the record defeat suffered by the Gorgie mob back in 1973 when they were thumped by their rivals from across the city in a result still celebrated around Leith.
After the pain, fall-outs and post mortems that followed the 3-0 defeat by AC Milan Kris Commons started the rout and took the match ball home to recognise his hat-trick.
“Great team performance today,” he tweeted. “Delighted to get a hat trick and into the next round!
Cool dude defender Virgil van Dijk seemed to enjoy his first taste of the Scottish Cup tweeting: “0-7 win against Hearts. What a teamperformance! #beastmode.”
Summing up the enjoyment of the hoops support former defender Darren O’Dea tweeted: “It’s hard to watch a team like Hearts struggling so much….. No wait!! It’s great viewing!!”
While Hearts were having a nightmare off the pitch the BBC were matching them as they attempted to provide live coverage of the match.
As the hoops took a quickly taken free-kick to score their second goal BBC viewers were treated to a replay of the foul only catching up after Commons had put the ball into the net.
Amazingly one of the BBC commentary team accused the Hearts defence of switching off- just as his colleague was doing the same to miss out on the goal.
That mistake was more than matched in the brief after match analysis where Rob McLean and Mark McGhee happily discussed how the roof had fallen in on Hearts.
Not the best of days for Hearts but they weren’t alone in the blunder stakes.
one nation,many cultures,aye right
Big huns oot the cup, bring on the wee HUNS from govan..hail hail, KTF+
No way….that would bring them pots of cash….canny be hivin’ that…
Let Dundee Utd hump them…
Hail Hail
To peter ,joe and mike. I know where you arecoming from gentlemen, but I cant resist the temptation to rag doll the Huns just one more time. I hope and pray we pull them in the draw.
I agree, let them lose to a team who won’t provide a decent gate for them. Give them nothing.
I agree Joe,
Don’t want to see them until 2015.Don’t
want to see them make a penny off us.On
reflection, the new club will be dead.by
2015 ,anyway.
Sportscene were a shambles today and
last night.billy.dodds must have had his
finger on the rewind button,so as we missed the second goal.dodds was besides himself with misery as the goals
flew in.
Last night,no footage of the zombie’s flare
that destroyed falkirk pitch.
Sevco said they would pay, six figure sum
for damage.
Wonder if this will also come.out of their
charity fund,like past needs.
Either way a drain on resources, when
money is running out FAST !!
Rob McLean looked like he was going to burst into tears at half time.
just a celtic fan who enjoyed watching total football, cheer up Rob your team is still the best in div 1.
Heehee ????????????
The Huns & wee Huns will be battling for who gets promoted in 2015, expect a change of the rules to allow both into the League welcomed with open arms by Ogilvie, Doncaster & Reagan. Cheating Scum we know what you are doing, everyone knows.!
a total drubbing today & it was a bit embarassing to watch as both the jambos & the sportscene team were shown up as incompetent & unprofessional.
lets hope we get a chance to top that performance in the next round at Ibrox vs the “Rangers 2012” who have reached the SC 5th round for the 1st time in their history
i thought that the minutes silence was impeccably observed by the celtic support and the 90 minutes silence was impeccably observed by the hearts fan
I agree why should we put any money into that mobs coffers.
Sally reckons they need fear no-one, lol it may have escaped your notice Sally but why don`t you check out the quality of the opposition.
Hail Hail
Just quality today Celtic, outstanding & well done HH! 🙂
OK great result, love beating the Edinburgh cousins of the dead team.
Would not to want to meet the SFA’s conspired new team at any time, not from fear of not taking care of them, it would be and should be easy. Worry is the carnage that could happen.
Those who still are in denial in respect of dead team, would not be interested in the score, but are desperate for a confrontation and all sorts of mischief could take place.
My biggest concern is the current state of our team. Has it been noticed that a team played in a cup tie away from home, won by 7 goals, and yet not a forward scored, only defenders and midfielders?
This has got to be addressed quickly.
Great to see the Celts stuff 7 past the wee Huns. Imagine how many we would have scored past the new Huns Sevco.
Anyone notice how the top notch BBC commentary team also described commons penalty as a “great free kick” brilliant result HH!
Wasn’t that fanny Whites face a joy to behold lol it must have been torture for him to watch a class team at work and dreading the prospects of us meeting his favorite team.
Black marks all round for the BBC`s coverage .
HAIL HAIL
