Lennon open to Rogic loan deal

Tom Rogic news

Neil Lennon is open to letting Tom Rogic going out on loan.

The midfielder joined Celtic a year ago from Central Coast Mariners but has found his first team opportunities limited.

Despite that Rogic remains an important part of Australia’s World Cup plans but knows that he must be playing regular football to be sure of his place in the squad for Brazil.

Central Coast Mariners are interested in taking Rogic back on loan with Lennon likely to make a decision after talks with the player in Turkey.

“There might be loan options there and if it’s right we’ll look at it,” the Celtic boss explained.

“Tom Rogic obviously has the World Cup and we have to be mindful of that but for us we need to get him playing football.

“Younger ones should look at the likes of Callum McGregor who has gone and played at Notts County.

“He’s taken a chance and now we can either look at bringing him back or maybe selling him in the future.”

Jackson Ivine’s loan spell with Kilmarnock has been extended till the end of the season while the option to recall Tony Watt from Lierse remains open.

After yesterday’s flight delay Celtic fly out to Turkey today for a week in the sun as well as two matches in the Antalya Cup.

Lennon will use his full squad over the two matches and is keen to get some additional time on the training ground with his summer signings.

While Virgil van Dijk has flourished alongside Efe Ambrose the Celtic boss has still to see any return from Teemu Pukki, Amido Balde and Derk Boerrigter.
