Paranoid McCoist accuses Doncaster

Paranoid Ally McCoist has hit out at the decision to host the League Cup Final at Celtic Park.

On Wednesday Neil Doncaster announced the final venue claiming that it was partly down to Ibrox hosting a televised clash between Sevco and Dunfermline the previous day.

With Celtic Park regularly hosting Champions League fixtures and enjoying regular maintenance it was the obvious venue for the show-piece fixture with no concerns over the financial well being of Celtic while at Ibrox Sevco continue to lose £1m a month.

Asked his opinion about the final venue £850,000-a-year McCoist said: “Call me an old cynic but I didn’t fancy our chances of getting the League Cup final.

“I did say to our chief executive Graham Wallace that, if we were allowed to bet, to get a few quid on the final not being at Ibrox. Neil Doncastler, or indeed whoever is running the SPFL, made the decision. That’s something they’ll have to live with.”

On the television issue the paranoid Third Division manager of the year added: “I’ve worked with television long enough that I know these boys are unbelievable at their job in terms of de-rigging and setting up for games. Come on. That doesn’t wash with me and I don’t think it washes with you either.”

Despite their constant hostility to most clubs in the top divisions of the game the SFA have decided to give Sevco a financial lifeline by hosting both Scottish Cup semi-finals at Ibrox.

Last season Sevco refused to take tickets for the Scottish Cup tie with Dundee United, a match that they lost 3-0.
