Liam Henderson newsYoung Player of the Month Liam Henderson has revealed that he’s not even the best player in his family.

The 17-year-old played a big part in clinching the SPFL title including his first ever goal in the title winning performance away to Partick Thistle.

Henderson’s dad, Nicky, enjoyed a decent career at Falkirk, Hamilton Accies and Thistle but after collecting his Player of the Month award the 17-year-old revealed that his two younger brothers are even better players!

“It’s a brilliant time to come in but the boys won the league long before I came in so all the credit is due to them. I’m only on the scene for five minutes.

“My dad’s really proud but if he doesn’t say anything to me then that means I’ve had a good game!

“I have two wee brothers and they are both players. Both are probably better than me! That’s just the way it is. I’d say both of them are actually better than me. They are 16 and 14. Ewan is 16 and the wee man has everything.

“He tells me he’s better than me and has all the patter. He’s with Celtic’s Under-15s and my other brother just plays boys’ club football but he is a player as well.

“I just want them to be healthy and happy. But if they make it at football that would be an added bonus and I would support them to the hilt. It would be great for the family as well.”

The emergence of Henderson alongside the arrival of Stefan Johansen has brought a new dimension to the Celtic midfield.

Neil Lennon has monitored Henderson closely and is determined to give the teenager every opportunity to become a regular in the hoops midfield.

“Liam has done fabulously well and he also understands we don’t just want him to come in for a short fix then disappear,” Lennon explained. “We don’t think he’s going to be that type. His attitude is very good, as you’d expect for a 17-year-old, he has a bubbliness and enthusiasm about him.

“We think “He has a good temperament already for someone of that age. Liam is playing with the big boys as well and hasn’t looked out of place.”
