Efe Ambrose newsEvery goal that Efe Ambrose scores is an event- with the defender’s strike against Inverness Caley Thistle his third goal of the season.

After scoring against Cliftonville and Motherwell Ambrose opted for his traditional triple somersault as supporters and team-mates looked on in appreciation.

Yesterday he went for a variation with a single spin complicated by a twist that some of his predecessors in the Celtic defence wouldn’t have thought of never mind executed.

Would Billy McNeill, Roy Aitken, Mick McCarthy, Bobo Balde or Stan Varga have attempted a similar celebration?

“I’m just picturing him (Ambrose) landing on his neck one day and us having to scrape him off the floor,” Neil Lennon admitted. “You can see the joy he gets out of his football and scoring goals is always special for him.”

Apart from Ambrose’s celebration there was plenty more for Lennon to enjoy as his side kept on course to go through the 100 point mark.

A hat-trick for Anthony Stokes was an obvious highlight, as was Fraser Forster’s penalty save, with the team bouncing back from last week’s end-of-season showing at Fir Park.

“I think the players learned a little bit from the previous week at Motherwell where I had said to them before the game, ‘If you take your foot off the pedal, you will feel it’,” the Celtic boss said.

“They probably were really disappointed, even though we didn’t lose that game at Fir Park. I got the reaction I was looking for.

“The freedom and the application was fantastic, and everyone made a real, telling contribution in that match.”
