A loan Scotland fan was the toast of social media as Uruguay all but killed off England’s World Cup hopes.
Two goals from Luis Suarez sent England to their second successive defeat to leave Roy Hodgson’s side needing snookers to avoid a first round ko from the World Cup.
In amongst the celebrating Uruguay fans one supporter with a Jimmy hat, Scotland top and saltire flag was seen celebrating as the latest English post mortem kicked off.
Twitter quickly identified the Scotland fan as ‘Mark from Glasgow’ with dozens of punters screen shotting the moment.
With Suarez scoring both goals against a handful of his Liverpool team-mates the pain of the English was evident for all to see as once again they were shown up as lightweights on the international stage.
Following the defeat from Italy Hodgson decided to stick with the same side with the only change being the tactical switch to play Wayne Rooney behind Daniel Sturridge with Raheem Sterling switched to the left flank.
Rooney did score his first ever World Cup goal with 15 minutes left to play but at no stage did England look like winners with Suarez sealing the win in the 85th minute running behind the England defence to smash the ball beyond Joe Hart who seemed to dive out of the way of the shot.
There was a predictable assault of high balls into the Uruguay box as England attempted to salvage a point but substitutes Ross Barkley, Adam Lalana and Ricky Lambert made no impact whatsoever.
England will be hoping that Italy can beat Costa Rica tomorrow to maintain an outside chance of qualifying going into the final group match against the central American’s but after tonight’s dismal display the players will be looking forward to holidaying in Dubai and Las Vegas as the knock out phase gets underway.
