Tony Watt topTony Watt has issued a farewell message to Celtic fans after signing for Standard Liege tonight.

The striker signed a five year deal with the Belgian side and will be in the squad to face Panathinaikos on Wednesday night.

Watt played his last game for Celtic against St Pauli on Saturday and turned to social media to say his farwell.

“Delighted to sign a 5 year deal with Standard Liege today,” he said. “Just want to thank everyone at Celtic for making my dreams come true and giving me an unforgettable 3 and a half years.

“It wasn’t an easy decision to leave the club I support and I honestly can’t explain the feeling I got every time I wore the hoops.

“And also a big thanks to the supporters who helped me through my Celtic career, I will never forget the atmosphere at most of the matches.”

Standard first showed interest in Watt at the turn of the year but were unable to strike a deal with a season long loan in place at Lierse.

As he fell out of favour with Stanley Menzo an inquiry came in from Stromsgodset to take Watt on loan but that wasn’t possible since he had already played for two clubs during the same season.

As Watt makes his move to Belgium permanent Celtic have taken Jo Inge Berget on loan from Cardiff until January.

Berget has been described as an attacker and moved to the Welsh side in January alongwith Ole Gunar Solksjaer and will be in the Celtic squad that travels to Poland tomorrow to face Legia Warsaw.
