Ronny DeilaKris Commons popped up with an early goal in Celtic’s 1-1 draw with Dynamo Dresden today but limped off injured shortly before half-time.

The potential loss of the goalscoring midfielder will cast a shadow over the day as new boss Ronny Deila took the opportunity to view 22 members of his first team squad.

Craig Gordon made his Celtic debut with Deila starting with just four of the side that kicked-off against KR Reykjavik on Tuesday then changing the entire team at the interval.

Beram Kayal and Nir Biton formed as all Israeli midfield partnership with Dylan McGeouch also drafted in.

The hoops got off to the perfect start with Commons, after his bad luck in Iceland, finding the net in the seventh minute from a Teemu Pukki pass after Callum McGregor raced down the left flank.

It was a lively opening to the match with chances at both ends with Gordon showing up well with a couple of impressive saves.

Five minutes from the interval there was a worry for Deila when Commons left the field with what looked like a knee injury to be replaced by Liam Henderson.

Despite changing the entire team at half-time Celtic continued to press the Germans in the searing Dresden sunshine but midway through the second period Dynamo equalised after a goalmouth scramble.

With Deila’s emphasis on fitness and a high tempo passing game the Norwegian would have been pleased with his squads display as they pushed till the final whistle in search of an equaliser.

CELTIC: Gordon; Matthews, Ambrose, van Dijk, F.Twardzik; Kayal, Biton; McGeouch, Commons, McGregor; Pukki

SUBS: Zaluska, Lustig, Izaguirre; Findlay, Mulgrew, O’Connell, Johansen, Henderson, Boerrigter, Griffiths, Fridjonsson
