Ronny DeilaRonny Deila has dropped a hint that he may return to Stromsgodset to sign Martin Odegaard.

The 15-year-old was given his top team chance under Deila at the Norwegian champions and is the highest rated teenager to emerge from Norway in a number of years.

New Stromsgodset manager David Neilsen claimed that Odegaard’s next move would be to Barcelona but Deila has hinted that the talented teenager may make that journey via Glasgow.

The new Celtic boss has still to make his first signing since replacing Neil Lennon and will be keeping a close eye on how Odegaard develops.

“It’s incorrect to say that Martin is outwith our range,” Deila told Norway’s TV2. “Martin must do what is best for him and we will do what is best for us- we’ll see if our paths meet at a later date.

“Martin is a good player but not even close to being a Celtic player at the moment but there’s no doubt that he might be in the future.”

Deila’s move to Glasgow has captured the imagination of the Norwegian media anxious to see how he copes with the transformation from working at a provincial Norwegian club to one of the biggest names in the UK.

So far Deila hasn’t said a word out of place but within a fortnight he’ll be getting judged on how Celtic fare against KR of Reykjavik.

Tomorrow he faces his first match in charge when Celtic take on FK Krasnodar close to their Austrian training base at Bad Leonfelden.
