CommonsRonny Deila is hopeful that Kris Commons will shake off the knock he picked up in today’s draw with Dynamo Dresden.

Commons, captaining the hoops, put Celtic ahead in the eighth minute but hobbled off just before half time with what looked like a knee injury.

With Scott Brown out of action for two to three months Commons has taken on even more of an important role in Deila’s plans with the manager optimistic about today’s injury.

“He got a knee in his thigh,” he told the club website. “It can hurt but I don’t think it’s very big and I hope he’s ready for Tuesday.”

Reassuringly Commons other half, Lisa Hague tweeted: “My mans just walked in and he’s fine, a wee bit of TLC is all that’s needed! :-)”

KR Reykjavik enjoyed a 4-1 league win at Valur on Friday night and will be hopeful of testing Celtic at Murrayfield.

Deila was able to watch 22 players in action under the Dresden sun with a debut handed to former Hearts keeper Craig Gordon.

Young Icelandic striker Holmbert Fridjonsson was also given his first game time under Deila with the hoops boss impressed by his two new bhoys.

“Holmbert is a talented boy and he needs time,” the Norwegian added. “It was good for him to get 45 minutes, his first appearance in the top team under me. He did well and worked hard.

“I was very pleased with Craig. It was a fantastic performance and he was like a cat in the goals and everything seemed easy. I am happy for him after two years and three months since the last time he played.”

Celtic are back in Germany next Saturday with a friendly against St Pauli.
