Ronny DeilaRonny Deila says that he wants to bring new energy to the Celtic squad.

So far the new hoops boss has only signed Craig Gordon with the former Hearts keeper signing on a modest pay-as-you-play deal after two years out of football.

This time last year Neil Lennon had signed up Virgil van Dijk and Amido Balde but with a potential Champions League qualifier against Legia Warsaw coming up Deila is looking to strengthen his squad.

“We are working in different places and we will see what happens but there is nothing serious,” he said after the 1-1 draw with Dynamo Dresden.

“I don’t comment on names but we are looking to get people into forward positions. We are hoping to get new energy into the squad.”

Despite optimistic suggestions from his agent Vilareal winger Javier Aquino won’t be coming to Celtic.

Yesterday’s injury to Kris Commons caused a stir with the hoops heavily reliant on the scoring feats of the midfielder.

Leigh Griffiths and Anthony Stokes were the preferred striking duo in the second half of last season but Deila’s system seems to be based on a single striker with three attacking midfielders pushing up in support.

Whether the current squad includes that type of player is open for debate with Deila speaking in Austria about his need to bring in someone who can play down the flanks.

Commons’ injury isn’t expected to keep him out of Tuesday’s match against KR Reykjavik who won 4-1 away to Valur on Friday night.
