Ronny DeilaRonny Deila was satisfied by Celtic’s 1-0 win over KR Reykjavik in the Icelandic capital.

Callum McGregor’s 84th minute strike gave the hoops a deserved victory after Kris Commons, Leigh Griffiths and substitute Teemu Pukki had hit the woodwork.

Next week’s return leg at Murrayfield should be a formality but having just taken over from Neil Lennon Deila is anxious to work with and learn as much as possible about his squad.

“We created enough chances tonight, even if it had finished 0-0 I would have been happy enough,” the Celtic boss said. “The performance was good, we deserved a goal and maybe a couple more. I think the result was good, the second half was pleasing.

“My philosophy is to learn in every game, we will work hard this week and be even better for next week’s match at Murrayfield.”

On Saturday Celtic face Dynamo Berlin in a friendly with Deila using the trip to the German capital to take a closer look at the squad he has inherited from Neil Lennon.

“The game gives me an opportunity to see some more players, we’ll see how many we take but it’s important to play matches and get to know each other.”

After a frustrating first half in which few chances were created Celtic upped the pace after the break pegging KR back for long periods.

It seemed certain that the hosts would earn a draw but with just six minutes left to play Callum McGregor cut in from the right flank then sent a low left foot drive into the net from the edge of the penalty box.

Last season McGregor scored 14 goals on loan to Notts County and made his debut for Scotland’s u-21 side.
