Teemu Pukki Teemu Pukki grabbed a hat-trick as Celtic twice came from behind to beat LASK Linz 5-2 in the latest match of their pre-season tour of Austria with Amido Balde and Leigh Griffiths also on the scoresheet.

It was another useful exercise for Ronny Deila to learn from with the hoops forced down to ten men for the last 25 minutes after Liam Henderson picked up a joke of a red card.

Pukki however took the honours with a well taken hat-trick to build on his rather fortunate goal against Rapid Vienna on Sunday. As well as Pukki’s goal touch the return of Nir Biton from injury would have impressed Deila with the Israeli internationalist strolling through 45 minutes alongside Henderson in the middle of the park.

There was a youthful look to the starting XI with Charlie Mulgrew, Virgil van Dijk, Kris Commons, Stefan Johansen and Anthony Stokes watching from the stand as the rain poured down.

Eoghan O’Connell, Stuart Findlay and Callum Waters made up the back four alongside ‘veteran’ Adam Matthews while Callum McGregor, Henderson and Bahrudin Atajic were given a chance to impress.

Both sides had chances in the opening exchanges but it was the home side that opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Radovan Vujanovic beat Findlay to a cross ball and headed past Lucasz Zaluska.

Twelve minutes later Celtic were level when Pukki slotted a low shot past the onrushing ‘keeper after being put through by a Leigh Griffiths pass. Five minutes from the interval Pukki could have put Celtic in front when he met a Matthews cross at the front post but his shot went high over the crossbar.

Deila made just two outfield changes at the break but after only nine seconds the Austrians cut through the Celtic defence with Pellegrini sending a low shot past substitute Leo Fasan.

Celtic weren’t behind for long with Pukki netting from six yards out after another raid by Matthews teed up a chance for the striker.

The Finnish internationalist showed his instinct for goal in the 64th minute when he tapped home a McGregor pass from three yards out after a Griffiths pass had opened up the Linz defence.

The match was littered with honest mistakes from the local referee with Henderson issued with his second yellow card midway through the second period for the mildest show of dissent. Despite being down to ten men Celtic continued to take the game to their hosts with Balde adding to the scoreline in the 76th minute when he volleyed home from 8 yards out after McGeouch had made a surging run through the Linz defence.

U-17 internationalist Aidan McIlduff, who only flew into Austria this morning, was given his first taste of top team action when he replaced Pukki after the fourth goal. In the 86th minute Leigh Griffiths showed his eye for goal with a composed  finish from 15 yards out after exchanging passes with McGregor on the edge of the box.

Despite being listed as a substitute Tony Watt wasn’t risked after picking up a slight groin knock in training.
