Ronny DeilaCeltic boss Ronny Deila was delighted by his side’s performance against Dundee United- for an hour.

In his sixth competitive match in charge the Deila stamp emerged as the hoops pushed and pressed Dundee United into unforced errors.

Sole striker Anthony Stokes failed to get onto the scoresheet- an issue he may debate with Charlie Mulgrew- but the goals came from throughout the team from Jason Denayer’s fourth minute opener through to Jo Inge Berget’s stoppage time strike.

Despite the emphatic 6-1 scoreline Deila felt his side took their foot off the gas after going 5-0 up ten minutes into the second half.

“I am into performances and today was a very good performance,” the Norwegian admitted. “For 60 minutes it was very good with pressing and transition, the passing was much better and we created a lot of things. We can score more and go 90 minutes.

“When we have good performances, we know we have the best players in this league and we showed today that we are a very good team but we can go 90 minutes instead of 60 and we have to work on that as well.

“In the last 10 or 15 minutes we were a little bit sleepy but I can understand it.”

After the stuttering performance in midweek against St Johnstone there was much more purpose about Celtic’s play as Jackie McNamara’s side were taken apart.

The only downside to the day was the injury to James Forrest who appeared to pull his hamstring setting up the final goal.

Asked about the injury to the winger Deila and his chances of playing in Maribor Deila revealed: “I hope it is not serious but it didn’t seem good when he walked off the pitch. I will see but I think so (miss out).
