mccoist tashDesperate Ally McCoist has blamed Charles Green for Sevco’s 2-1 defeat from Hearts.

Despite having the highest paid manager in Scotland, the second highest paid squad of players in the country and enjoying a  no expense spared pre-season tour of North America it seems that an interview on the BBC website has scuppered all of McCoist’s pre-season plans.

Twelve months ago an interview by Green with The Sun was blamed for Sevco’s League Cup exit from Forfar Athletic with McCoist playing the Green card again today.

“Whether he comes back or not remains to be seen,” the Sevco boss said of his fellow investor in penny shares. “I thought the timing of it again, it is a big day for the players, a big day for the supporters and even bigger day for Sandy Jardine’s family. I just didn’t think the timing of it was great.

“For the first time, one or two of the players actually said to me about the timing of all that kind of stuff.

“Everybody does their level best to keep players sheltered and away from it and we will continue to do that because they have to concentrate on results on the park. Sometimes it is a little bit of a sideshow we can do without.”

Sevco fielded FOUR former Hearts players but it was former Rangers (IL) defender Danny Wilson that opened the scoring early in the second half.

After being booed for being named man-of-the-match Nicky Law snatched a stoppage time equaliser but before the celebrations had died down Osman Sow scored the winner with the finger of blame being pointed in Green’s direction.
