BrownAs if a home defeat from Hamilton Accies wasn’t enough for Ronny Deila to cope with the Celtic boss also has a dressing room rift to contend with.

Scott Brown’s claim that ‘people were just hiding’ has to be addressed if a bad situation isn’t about to get worse, much worse.

While supporters might think  and debate about players hiding it’s another matter for the club captain to go on the record with those words.

Kris Commons, Anthony Stokes and John Guidetti all had afternoons that they’d rather forget but rather than hide they were in the firing line missing chances as Celtic dug a hole for themselves by losing at home to Hamilton.

Deila’s reign has been in trouble since the 4-1 defeat to Legia Warsaw in a Champions League qualifier and has been wobbling ever since.

His insistence on a format that looks alien to most of the players has been accompanied by a fascination over fitness and diet which has resulted in the habits and attitude of the players being questioned.

No-one would doubt for a second that producing players with the fitness levels of Gareth Bale or Christiano Ronaldo is desirable but unless players buy-in to the concept there is going to be friction.

Clear the air meetings are all well and good but it’ll be  October 16 before Deila’s squad return from international duty with less than two days to prepare for the trip to Ross County.

As he desperately attempts to steady the playing ship Deila can’t ignore the comments of his captain who  said: “We didn’t have enough movement and there weren’t enough people wanting the ball.

“People were just hiding and it was disappointing to see and play in. We tried to play but Hamilton pressed us high up the pitch and teams don’t do that at Celtic Park.

“We should be pressing teams high up the park and it hasn’t happened. I don’t do getting beat. I came to Celtic to win games and we are not winning games and performing just now and I don’t know why that is.

“We are just not doing it as a team and as individuals. I take my share of the blame as well in there.”

Deila described the period up to the September international break as chapter one in his Celtic career, a chapter that included being ko’d from the Champions League and a disappointing transfer window.

Chapter Two hasn’t been much better, losing at home to Hamilton and the criticism of team-mates from his captain will cast a shadow over the coming days that only strong actions- and results- from Deila will resolve.
