McGeouchAiden McIlduff at Clyde was the only loan Celt to enjoy a win at the weekend with draws being the order of the day.

In front of a few hundred fans the young left back helped Barry Ferguson’s side to a 2-1 win over Elgin City that lifted the club into mid-table.

Elsewhere it was a case of draws and defeats with Marcus Fraser on the wrong end of a 6-0 defeat as Cowdenbeath found Falkirk in form in the Scottish Championship.

Cowdenbeath’s recent upturn in results came to a shuddering halt at Falkirk where the visitors lost 6-0 with Peter Grant, son of the former Celtic midfielder, scoring the fourth goal for the home side.

That defeat and Alloa’s 1-1 draw at Raith Rovers leaves the Fifers in bottom place but a win in their game in hand would send them to the comfort of third bottom place.

In the same division there was disappointment for Dylan McGeouch when an outrageous stoppage time 40 yard drive from Alim Ozturk earned Hearts a draw in the Edinburgh derby.

The draw leaves Hibs trailing Hearts by 15 points but with second, third and fourth place opening the door to the play-off’s Alan Stubbs feels that his side is starting to find their feet.

“It’s disappointing to lose (a goal) so late on, especially when the team have been magnificent,” the Hibs boss said. “It would be easy for me to be very downbeat because of what’s happened, but I thought my players were absolutely outstanding.”

Up a division Ross County bounced back from their trouncing from Celtic by earning a draw away to St Mirren. Jackson Irvine returned to the team that also included Lewis Toshney with former Celt Graham Carey scoring for the visitors against his old club.

Further afield Teemu Pukki failed to add to his four goals so far on loan to Brondby as they drew 0-0 away to Esbjerg, Holmbert Fridjonsson failed to make the squad.

In Belgium Beveren, featuring Amido Balde lost out 1-0 to an Alex McLeish inspired Genk with the goal coming in the third minute of stoppage time.

Along the road in Brussels Tony Watt was a late substitute as Standard Liege won 2-0 away to Anderlecht, the result lifted Standard into ninth place but just eight points behind leaders Anderlecht.
