Two Celt’s from Christmases past were among the first to join in the festive spirit on twitter.

From Sofia and Swansea they signed for Celtic- almost a decade on from leaving the club there’s no doubt which part of their careers that Stan Petrov and John Hartson enjoyed most.

Teaming up with the King of Kings under Martin O’Neill, Petrov and Hartson were an integral part of a golden era of Celtic success- coming up with the big performances and goals when it mattered most.

In May they were back in Glasgow to celebrate former team-mate Neil Lennon’s third title success with the bonds between those players stronger than ever.

Last week posing with Petrov, Hartson tweeted: “The main man.. @StanPetrov19 great spending some time with him. Without doubt in my top 3 players ever played with.”

In festive mood last night the Welshman tweeted: “To all my genuine friends and followers have a great Xmas and please spare a thought to those less fortunate.. God bless and good health.”

Petrov tweeted: “I would like to wish Merry Christmas and a very Happy and Healthy New Year to everybody. God Bless you all.”

Both men are heavily involved in charity work with The John Hartson Foundation raising awareness of testicular cancer testing.

On the Foundation website Hartson writes: “IT’S been a sensational year for the John Hartson Foundation. With the help and support of so many people we’ve managed to raise an unbelievable amount of money.

“That’s allowed us to donate thousands of pounds to a number of different charities. And with the year coming to an end I feel tremendous pride in everything my team and I have managed to achieve. Every event we’ve staged was a success.

“Our golf day back in March was tremendous and our BraveHart Ben Nevis Challenge and end-of-year ball were top notch. Looking back, I really don’t think we could have anticipated or expected things going so well for the Foundation.

“The year is almost over but our target now is to make sure 2015 is bigger and better than ever before. With YOUR help the sky is the limit.”
