Ronny DeilaRonny Deila has held his hands up over Celtic’s 4-3 defeat from Dinamo Zagreb.

After the match Deila claimed that some players had lacked spirit and had failed to follow orders to play a more compact system.

Yesterday, as he prepared to face St Mirren, the hoops boss took his share of the blame for the defeat in Croatia.

“I have had more thoughts since Thursday night,” Deila revealed. “I have to take some of the responsibility. I was maybe a little bit naive by playing too offensively, aside from changing the team a lot.

“We tried some things, we used the game to test things out and some things went well and some didn’t. So we need to take this experience to the next stage.”

On Monday Celtic will find out their opponents in the last 32 of the Europa League which throws up the possibility of a re-match with Legia Warsaw.

The two clubs met in a Champions League qualifier in August with Celtic going through after the Polish champions fielded an ineligible player at Murrayfield.

“We take what we get but hopefully we get another team,” Deila said about the possibility of a Legia re-match. “We have played them – and I think UEFA wants us to meet someone else.

“We have improved since then. Legia were a better team than us but it is a different story now. It is going to be exciting but we will see who we get.”

Scott Brown, James Forrest and John Giuidetti are available to face St Mirren tomorrow.
