SFAThe SFA have failed to deliver a verdict in Aleksandar Tonev’s appeal against a seven match ban for using racist language at Shay Logan.

Celtic’s Bulgarian winger appeared at Hampden to appeal against the charge with the SFA unable to provide a decision on the appeal.

A brief statement tonight said: “An Appellate Tribunal convened tonight to consider an appeal in relation to the decision of the Judicial Panel Disciplinary Tribunal taken on Thursday, 30th October 2014, relative to Aleksandar Tonev (Celtic FC).

“The Tribunal, having heard submissions, will adjourn for consideration before reaching their determination within the next two weeks.”
Tonev started his first game since the ban last night in the 1-0 win over Partick Thistle and will be available for Saturday’s visit to Fir Park to take on Motherwell.
Despite the severity of the case the SFA have yet to produce any evidence to back up the charge or to justify the initial guilty verdict delivered.
The match was covered live by Sky Sports but despite extensive coverage from a variety of cameras no incident has been identified let alone any footage of what Tonev is alleged to have said.
Both Aston Villa, Tonev’s parent club, and the Bulgarian FA have voiced their concern about a verdict without any evidence.
Celtic have kept quieter about the charge but Ronny Deila stated at the weekend that the club would take the matter further if Tonev’s appeal wasn’t upheld.
That could see the issue taken to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland which would see SFA justice come under scrutiny from an outside agency for the first time.
