WattCharlton coach Bob Peeters is confident that Tony Watt can lift his side into the play-off zone.

After more than a week training with the London side the former Celtic striker completed his transfer from Standard Liege earlier today.

Charlton are sitting in 13rd place with 13 draws from 24 games- with Watt on board Peeters is confident that his side can win enough games to push for a play-off spot.

“He’s a striker who will add something to our team,” the Charlton’s coach said. “He’s a guy who can score goals, he has a lot of pace, especially round the back of the defence, and although he’s only 21 he has a lot of experience already and has played in the Champions League.

“He didn’t have his best period at Standard, but I think now that he’s back in a country where they speak English, and he feels at ease, he can do the job.

“He needs a little bit of time to settle in, but I hope the fans can back him up and give him the confidence that he will need to be the player that he can be.”

Watt looked set to be part of Ronny Deila’s Celtic plans for the new season but found himself on the move to Belgium when Standard Liege put in a bid of £1m.

A change of manager shortly after joining Standard saw the 21-year-old drop out of contention with Charlton keen to take the striker to England.

It seemed that the move to Charlton would be on loan but after negotiations between the two clubs and the player a three and a half year deal was completed today.
