red cardHibs and Falkirk will have to put up with Willie Collum today.

Match-of-the-day in the Championship will be refereed by the shining star of the refereeing business despite a string of recent horror decisions.

In midweek Collum suffered the humiliation of having two red cards overturned but that provided little consolation to St Mirren and Motherwell as they battle against relegation.

Within the space of four days Collum handed out four penalties and three red cards forcing the SFA into a retreat as clubs appealed against the attention seeking whistler.

After the new year defeat from Kilmarnock St Mirren boss Gary Teale said: “ I’ve looked back at the decisions and I told the referee that I was embarrassed that he gave us the penalty at the end.

“That was a token gesture as I didn’t think that was a penalty either, and neither were either of the Kilmarnock ones. The decision to send Kenny McLean off was a massive one as well.

“The ref makes those calls in a split-second and he obviously thought he got them right. I think he got them wrong. I’m sitting here with another defeat on my record and that’s not going to help me or my chance to get this job.”

McLean’s red card and a two match ban overturned.

McManus was sent off for deliberate handball by eagle eyed Collum in the 2-0 defeat from Aberdeen with the Dons clinching the match from a penalty awarded in error.

After getting the red card overturned McManus said: “I was bitterly disappointed and frustrated to be red carded last week, but I do also accept that mistakes happen and are part of the game.

“I am obviously pleased the red card has been rescinded and I very much look forward to Saturday’s game against Dundee.”
