Parma stare at liquidation

|

Money in FootballFormer UEFA Cup winners Parma are on the brink of liquidation.

Today’s home match with Udinese has been postponed by the Italian Federation as news emerges of the state that the Serie A club is in.

Friday’s training session for Roberto Donandoni’s side was cancelled amid reports that the club couldn’t afford the water bill with players and staff unpaid since the summer.

Parma had requested that the Udinese game was played behind closed doors to restrict costs but that plea was turned down by the authorities.

A statement from Italian Federation president Carlo Tavecchio said: “Having spoken with the Professional Footballers’ Association and Italian Football Coaches’ Associaton, who expressed the players’ and coaches’ aversion to playing behind closed doors, and having spoken with the mayor of the City of Parma, and in agreement with the president of the Lega Serie A, it has been decided that the game between Parma and Udinese, scheduled to take place on February 22, 2015, will be postponed to a future date to be determined by the Lega Serie A.

Having virtually six months to resolve the situation it seems that Parma will be liquidated and unable to fulfill their remaining fixtures.

According to Italian rules their results will stand with their remaining fixtures ruled as 3-0 victories to their opponents.

Donadoni added: “There’s a limit to our patience, we have given them time, but that time is expiring. The time has come to deliver things to these lads and if that doesn’t happen, we’ll take action.

“We spoke to the president yesterday and he explained to us how complicated it is to get the money to arrive. He told us that the money’s there, but now we’re really losing our patience.”
