Kris CommonsKris Commons is confident about being in the Celtic side to face Dundee United in the League Cup Final on Sunday.

The goalscoring midfielder was substituted 10 minutes into last week’s 4-0 win over Aberdeen and sat out the matches against St Johnstone and Dundee United.

With a clear week of preparations for the first trophy of the season Commons is confident that he’ll be ready to face United at Hampden.

“I got injured only a week ago, it’s important, especially with hamstring injuries that you nurse them back to 100% or you can face four or five weeks off,” he told Sky Sports.

“It’s important this week that I can get as fit as possible and get ready for the cup final. Hopefully I’ll get in a lot of training this week then get to Hampden and try to lift the trophy.”

The return of a fully fit Commons would be a timely boost with Ronny Deila facing a lengthy absentee list for the Hampden final.

New signings Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong are both cup-tied with Charlie Mulgrew and Mikael Lustig on the long term injury list.

Adam Matthews was missing from the team at Tannadice yesterday while Nir Bitton had to be replaced late in the game after picking up an injury.

With Virgil van Dijk suspended after getting sent off yesterday the return of a fully fit Commons will be appreciated as Deila’s side attempt to get their hands on the first trophy of the season.
