John GuidettiRonny Deila was at a loss to explain John Guidetti’s lack of celebration after scoring Celtic’s second goal in the 3-0 win over Dundee United.

The Swedish striker is normally one of the most animated players in the team with the salute celebration a regular feature of his early season scoring run.

After the League Cup Final success over Dundee United Guidetti was criticised for his reaction to James Forrest taking Celtic’s penalty with the striker heading straight up the tunnel at the final whistle.

Guidetti was first on the scene on Wednesday night after Ryan McGowan’s shocking foul on Liam Henderson but after scoring his 13th goal of the season barely raised a smile.

Apart from Guidetti’s reaction there was little to find fault with in the Celtic performance with former United duo Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong playing against their old club for the first time.

The former Tannadice duo were joined in Ronny Deila’s starting XI by Guidetti and Stefan Johansen with all of the scoring coming in the first half.

Mackay-Steven opened the scoring after 15 minutes before Guidetti’s goal in the 33rd minute killed any chance of the visitors taking something from the match.

In first half stoppage time Denayer back-heeled the ball into the net from within the six yard box as Celtic stamped their authority over United for the third time in a week.

With an international break coming up Deila has 13 days to prepare for Celtic’s next match at St Mirren- it’s unlikely that much analysis will go on into Guidetti’s ‘celebration’ against Dundee United.
