Ronny Deila has revealed that Stefan Scepovic will get a chance at Celtic.
The former Sporting Gijon striker was Deila’s only permanent signing during the summer transfer window but has found his opportunities limited despite arriving with a £2m transfer fee.
When Scepovic was left out of the Celtic squad that travelled to face Inter Milan it seemed that his time was up but Deila insists that the Serbian will feature in his side in the coming weeks.
“The story with Stefan is that we have big competition up front,” the Celtic boss said. “Leigh has played well now and Guidetti also has played some good games.
“Stefan has some things he needs to work on and he’s doing that. He will get his chance again, then he has to be ready. I have to see in training and matches that he’s making improvement.
“He needs to be better in different issues. Every player is frustrated when they do not play, but every player has been through hard times. It’s how you deal with hard times that shows your character.
“Stefan is working hard and we will see more of him. He has improved but he can improve more than he has done.”
Scepovic’s last starting appearance was at the start of the new year when he scored in the 2-0 win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.
Last season the 25-year-old scored 23 goals in 41 matches for Sporting Gijon in the Spanish Second Division.
In 7 starts plus 14 substitute appearances Scepovic has scored 4 goals.
