Kris CommonsKris Commons has been declared fit for Sunday’s League Cup Final against Dundee United.

The goalscoring midfielder has been troubled by hamstring injuries and has completed just one 90 minutes since scoring in the League Cup semi-final win over Sevco six weeks ago.

Commons missed last week’s Scottish Cup tie against Dundee United but is on course to return to the starting XI for the Hampden clash after resuming full training.

Speaking to Celtic TV the 31-year-old said: “I’m hoping more than anything that the pitch is going to be in better nick than last time we played there. They’ve relaid it and hopefully we can play a bit more football.

“We like to play attacking football and want to get the ball down and play for the Celtic fans.

“Winning would tick a box and that’s what we are aiming for. We’ve got some very important games coming up including a cup replay but we’ve got to concentrate on the job in hand, the first game and put 110% into that.”

A fully fit Commons will be a big boost for Celtic with Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong both cup tied.

Deila’s major injury worry is over Nir Bitton with the midfielder being given every chance to prove that he is fully recovered from the ankle injury he picked up at Tannadice.

With two more vital clashes coming up over the next week against Jackie McNamara’s side Deila won’t pick anyone less than 100% fit.

Adam Matthews is the other main injury concern but with Virgil van Dijk available Efe Ambrose will start at right-back if the Welshman fails to prove his fitness.
