Dave King Two weeks after his glorious revolution, standing on a transparency and accountability ticket, Dave King and his war-chest are nowhere to be seen.

The euphoria of King’s EGM result is still lingering in the air despite the club finding their rightful place on the pitch is an uncomfortable 15th best in the Scottish game.

Behind the scenes those that backed Mr King are starting to get twitchy with Paul Murray, John Gilligan and Douglas Park in the front line as the time-bomb towards Thursday’s pay day looms ever closer.

As a South African judge noted Mr King is a glib and shameless liar who will engineer any situation for his own benefit with last week’s promises worth nothing as today’s realities are dealt with.

During one of his batches of hot air announcements, a year ago, Mr King pledged: “My view of what it will take to make Rangers competitive again is bottom end £30m but probably £50m — over the next four years.

“From the discussions I have to date I think there are other people who would come with me but I would say I would probably have to put in £30m of the £50m over the period of time. And I could probably get other people to put in £20m.

“Would I be willing to invest £30m despite what happened previously? Of course. Sure.”

Having ousted the old board Mr King seems less sure on that promise and the other pledges that he made.

In the days leading upto the EGM he was quizzed about appointing a NOMAD and claimed that he had one lined up.

His own suitability to stand as a director was glossed over before he suddenly dropped his nomination to become a director of the company running the football club.

With 16 days left to find a NOMAD it looks like that promise will fall by the wayside resulting in an almost certain slump in the share price.

Without a NOMAD another public share issue is out of the question with King’s name almost as toxic as Sevco- four NOMAD’s in two years- in city circles.

Should the club be unable to meet next week’s payroll and apply for administration Mr Murray, Mr Park and Mr Gilligan will be in the front line- with Mr King back home in South Africa as just another concerned shareholder like Mike Ashley and thousands of others.
