GriffithsLeigh Griffiths slammed the pitch at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium as the one of the worst he has played on this season.

The striker opened the scoring in the 1-1 draw with a low 22 yard drive in the third minute but was in no mood to compliment the pitch.

After the match former Caley Thistle striker Charlie Christie explained that the pitch has been a problem since the installation of undersoil heating which restricts drainage and spiking.

Griffiths has scored on the ploughed fields of Hampden and Tannadice in recent weeks but felt that the surface at Inverness was among the worst he has encountered.

“We will be playing on a better pitch next week,” the striker stated looking ahead to the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden. “That was one of the worst pitches we’ve played on this season. We knew that coming here it was going to be difficult.

“Both teams tried to play on it. Both teams will be a lot different next week, the pitch is a big factor, it was bobbly and dry- next week it will be totally different.

Celtic boss Ronny Deila added: “I talked about the pitch at St Mirren because I feel that it’s an issue at every venue, we know that is how it is and we have to cope with it.”

John Hughes was equally critical of the pitch with both teams looking forward to next week’s meeting at Hampden.

The pitch at the national stadium was heavily criticised after the League Cup semi-finals but after being relayed for the final appears to have settled down.
