leigh griffiths teacakeLeigh Griffiths has revealed that he’s had to reign in his support for Hibs.

The Celtic striker has never hidden his fondness of the Edinburgh side and spent two loan spells on Leith dragging the club to two Hampden cup finals.

Last season, without the goals of Griffiths, Hibs crashed down to the Championship but are in the play-off’s and potentially four matches away from a return to the big time.

Griffiths will be keeping a keen eye on the fortunes of Alan Stubbs’ side but will restrict his attendance to turning up at Easter Road.

In terms of going to Hibs games, obviously you don’t want to be going to ones at Tynecastle or Ibrox because you know it is just going to cause an uproar,” he admitted. “Going to Easter Road you are away from everybody, away from the crowds, you sit in the directors box and you don’t get any hassle, but if you go to Tynecastle or Ibrox that is when the people are going to be on you.”

Last Saturday Hibs had the opportunity to clinch second place by beating Falkirk who had knocked them out of the Scottish Cup three weeks earlier.

With Celtic beating Dundee on the Friday night the striker had the weekend off and decided on a low key visit to see his side clinch second spot.

I came in after ten minutes,” Griffiths admitted about a rare Hibs awayday. “We were off for the weekend so I thought I would go and support the boys. I know a few of the boys who were playing.

I am not thinking of going to any pubs any more or anything like that. I just go to the game, get out as quickly as possible, get in the car and go home.”
