red cardWorried Cameron Bell has publicly pleaded with Kevin Clancy to clamp down on Queen of the South’s corner kick jostling.

Clancy will take charge of today’s quarter-final second leg at Ibrox between Sevco and the Dumfries side with Bell still smarting from the goal he lost last week to Derek Lyle.

Queens won twice and drew once with the League One champions during the regular season with this afternoon’s match likely to be a nervy affair in front of fans who are paying just a fiver for the cut price action.

“You would like to think the refs would be ready for it this time,” Bell pleaded in reference to last week’s equaliser in his side’s 2-1 win.

“There is so much that goes on in the box at a corner that it is tough for the officials but hopefully they might ?recognise it this time if Queens try the same trick again.”

Bell’s plea to Clancy seems to be at odds with his manager who claimed recently defended the honest mistake of Steven McLean that helped Inverness Caley Thistle into the final of the Scottish Cup.

“The referee missed it, we are all human,” McCall said of the handball incident missed by McLean, Alan Muir and linesman Frank Connor. “Obviously it’s probably cost them (Celtic) massively. There’s no doubt about it. The officials messed up and you can’t go back and change it.

“So, as sore as it is, as desperate as you feel, you have to recognise that human beings make mistakes. There is not one official I’ve known in my life who would purposely make a mistake.”

Perhaps the former Bradford and Motherwell boss could explain that viewpoint to his goalkeeper.
