Two more youngsters sent out on loan

Development team defenders Stuart Findlay and Calum Waters have gone on loan to Kilmarnock and Dumbarton respectively.

For centre-half Findlay it will be his third loan spell after periods at Championship sides Morton and Dumbarton

Those moves took place in January but the deal to Rugby Park will allow him to play a full part in the Ayrshire side’s pre-season preparations

With Dedryck Boyata, Virgil van Dijk, Efe Ambrose, Charlie Mulgrew and Eoghan O’Connell available to Ronny Deila the Celtic boss has plenty of options in that area of the park.

Left-back Waters has been a regular in the Development side over the last two seasons and featured in some first team matches during the 2013 pre-season trip to Germany.

Speaking to his club website Dumbarton boss Stevie Aitken said: “I’m delighted to have signed Calum and I’m grateful to Celtic for their co-operation.

“He’s a highly rated player and everyone at Celtic speaks highly of him so when he became available to us, it was a no-brainer to add Calum to the squad.”

The Championship seems certain to feature an influx of Celtic players with the club anxious to give players first team experience at solvent clubs.

Paul McMullan will feature for St Mirren after agreeing a deal with Ian Murray while Connor McManus and Michael Duffy have moved to Alloa on loan.

These deals will lead to Celtic fielding a very young side in the Development League although it’s likely that players from the first team squad will also feature regularly.

Leigh Griffiths used the development side to work his way into Deila’s first team plans with the current squad facing Morton on Monday night at Cappielow in a testimonial match for long serving kitman Andy Bryan.
