Malmo set to take record travelling support to Celtic

MALMO are expecting to have their biggest ever travelling support for a European qualifier when they visit Celtic Park next week.

The Swedish side are entitled to 2,600 tickets and have already booked 1,000 tickets from Celtic and are expecting to take up more of their allocation.

Last week’s win over Salzburg followed by the 2-1 league win over AIK Gothenburg seems to have rejuvinated supporters who are hoping for a second successive season in the Champions League.

Having watched the exploits of Henrik Larsson and others at the most atmospheric stadium in Europe the Malmo fans are moving swiftly to book up for a trip to Glasgow.

According to Swedish website Expressen: “MFF Support, which arranges flights to and from Glasgow on the day of the match, has already sold out two aircraft.

On Monday places on the second flight sold out in 20 minutes with a third flight filling up fast which will take the total number of travelling fans to 500. Many other supporters are making plans to travel independently.”

Malmo’s Supporters Liason Officer Pierre Nordberg, known locally as JP, said: “We believe that there will be around a thousand fans that will travel to Glasgow and have fun. This will be our biggest ever support for a qualifier, the most that have travelled before this was taking 700 to Prague.”

The day trip package including transfers from the airport and after the match costs around £250 with the club website announcing that ‘We will return with information about the collection of pubs and more.’
