red cardLeigh Griffiths believes that a Celtic player would have been sent off if they’d committed the foul that led to Celtic’s penalty at Pittodrie.

Having turned Andrew Considine the striker found himself dragged to the ground just six yards from goal.

Craig Thomson pointed to the penalty spot but decided to award a yellow card despite the denial of a clear goal scoring opportunity.

Griffiths scored from the penalty spot but was seen debating the issue with the match referee as the teams left the park at half time.

I was going to score, there was no doubt about it,” the striker said afterwards. “I was about to whip it around the goalie. I was three or four yards away from goal so he’s got to be sent off.

“If it’s up the other end I’m positive, I’d put my mortgage on it, that the referee sends one of our players off.”

Asked what made him say that, he replied: “It’s what happens. If it’s up the other end the Aberdeen players would have surrounded him and you can guarantee he sends him off. That’s 100 percent.

“The ref just said I was going away from goal. But to me I’m going to whip it round and put it to the goalie’s left-hand side.

“Look, it’s one of those things. It’s done with now. We’ve been beaten and we need to look forward but he grabbed a hold of my shirt, I came back inside him and he burled me around.”

It’s unlikely that Griffiths will be disciplined for his comments after the SFA took no action against Robbie Neilson who claimed that he expects to have players sent off in matches involving Willie Collum.

Why is Leigh complaing about this? They went down to ten men at 1-1. We still lost!
Stop making ridiculous excuses! We need a anager who knows what he is doing, not to be plauing ten men every week!

Leigh Griffith 100% correct we would have had our man sent off as Thomson has proved before with his decisions. They should have had another man sent off for kicking Celtic player after he fouled him and the fourth official standing feet away again no action but you are allowed to kick, pull and do what you want too Celtic players but dare Celtic even say anything and woe betide you!

That Aberdeen should have had three men sent off just shows that the decision last season from Steve McLean is that we are not going to be allowed to win much this season as the knuckle cracker`s will be out in big numbers blatantly stopping our progress. Thompson is now up along side wee Wullie Winkie whenever the camera`s are about they think it is their own show and supervisors sitting in the stand`s congratulating them at their next knuckle cracking meeting.

And yes it does happen!!! Not got todays papers yet but I’m sure they will stick with the ref. Even Neil McCann said it was a sending off. Whoooo!
