spflAberdeen crashed to their fourth defeat in a row when they lost 2-0 away to Ross County.

Goals either side of half time by Brain Graham gave the home side full points providing Celtic with the opportunity to return to the top of the table by winning at Motherwell tomorrow.

After starting the league campaign with eight straight wins hopes were high that the Dons could sustain a challenge while Celtic played in the Europa League and faced a series of Sunday fixtures.

Losing 2-0 away to Hibs in the League Cup seems to have triggered an unexpected collapse with the reaction to rumours that McInnes would be leaving suggesting that all is not well behind the scenes.

The Dons boss refused to be pictured with the Ladbrokes backed manager of the month award for September ahead of tonight’s match.

Graham opened the scoring in the 35th minute following a run down the left by Dick Forster that was played back into his path.

Aberdeen brought on Adam Rooney and Shay Logan at the interval but quickly found themselves trailing by two goals despite the backing of 1,700 travelling supporters.

Four minutes into the second period Graham brushed aside the attention of Ash Taylor and Andrew Considine before confidently striking his shot beyond Danny Ward.

Aberdeen had a number of chances to pull back a goal but failed to convert as attention switches to Fir Park tomorrow where Celtic can go top of the league with a win over Motherwell.
