Ajax hit by injuries

Ajax will be without three regulars when they face Celtic in tomorrow’s crunch Europa League tie.

Both sides need a win to maintain any hope of reaching the last 32 with the pressure mounting on Ronny Deila and Frank de Boer.

Midfield trio Riechedly Bazoer, Daley Sinkgraven and Thulani Serero were left behind in Amsterdam as de Boer’s side prepared to fly to Glasgow.

Deila faces a similar problem with Stefan Johansen and Nir Bitton suspended while Kris Commons faces a race against time to prove his fitness after picking up a hamstring strain in the home defeat from Molde.

Charlie Mulgrew looks like returning to the side with midfielder Tom Rogic confident that Celtic can pick up the points to make the trip to Fenerbahce worthwhile.

“I thought we played well against them in Amsterdam and were in a situation in the match where we could have gone on and won it,” the midfielder said. “It just wasn’t to be that night but I think that if we can perform to the levels we’re capable of then we can certainly get the result we need.

We’re missing a couple of big players but whoever plays on Thursday will be ready. We have a good squad.

It’s a massive game and we know what’s at stake. We still have a chance to go through and it’s just a case of going out there and performing.

“I don’t think too many people would have predicted how this group would have panned out. But we can’t look back – we have to just look forward.”
