Wacky Kenny Miller issues Premiership title warning
The ageing front man signed a contract extension to stay on at Ibrox until the end of next season assuming that Sevco avoid going into liquidation.
Boosted by his new deal, believed to be over £5,000-a week, the former Vancouver Whitecap marksman has set his sights on back-to-back title wins and playing into his forties!
“The goal is to win the Premiership, it has to be,” he said with a straight face. “That is what we want to do, we want to make sure we win the league this year and then get back to the top flight.”
With a comment sure to amuse Motherwell, St Johnstone and Hibs supporters he added:“We’re not going up there just to challenge for a top-six place, we need to be challenging for that league. Would I like one more title before I retire? That would be great.
“Ultimately we need to win that league back, that is what the fans expect and that is what as players we are demanding of each other.
“I need to make sure I am contributing next year so that I can stay another year!
“At the moment I feel as if I could play into my forties but ask me in a couple of years and we’ll see.
“I feel great, despite having a niggling injury over the last couple of weeks and training has definitely been beneficial.
“I feel great going into the game and after games and not quite as sore after and I think that is down to the level of training that we do.
“I have a contract now for another 18 months but even at the end of that I have no plans to retire and hang up my boots.”
As well as helping the Warbo Revolution Miller is asisting Ian Durrant with the latest crop of starlets from the Murray Park Academy of Excellence.
Despite back-to-back 4-0 pumpings from Hamilton Accies and Ross County Miller is dreaming of following Warbo into management.
He added: “Management is definitely a road I want to go down whether it means I have to go down to coaching, an assistant or work with youths first but for me ultimately it will be first-team management.
“If I could come back here in the future then that would be a dream come true.”
Miller could soon be joined by Derby County warhorse John Eustace who is believed to be close to completing a dream move to Ibrox.
