For the second time in less than a week Aberdeen have failed to overtake Celtic at the top of the Premiership.
After a 2-2 draw at home to Inverness Caley Thistle on Saturday Derek McInnes watched his side draw 0-0 at home to Partick Thistle.
The point allowed them to draw level on points with Celtic at the top of the table but with a plus 17 goal difference over the Dons and two matches in hand the destiny of the title is very much in Celtic’s hands.
There was little to excite the fans at Pittodrie with Thistle well worth their point despite seeing their four match winning run come to a halt.
Despite having the chance to put pressure on Celtic McInnes has been reluctant to push his side’s title challenge.
Looking ahead to the match the Aberdeen boss said: “We were disappointed we didn’t win on Saturday, but Inverness are nobody’s fools. They are a good side and for us to beat them, we have to play better over 90 minutes.
“We recognise, for us to beat teams like Inverness and Partick Thistle, we have to show more of a complete performance and not just over 45 minutes.
“When we play at our pace, we can win games and cause any team problems and we know that but it’s important when different teams set up in different ways, that we find the answers.”
In today’s other Premiership matches Inverness won at Hamilton and there were home wins for Hearts and Motherwell over Dundee United and St Johnstone.
On Saturday Celtic host Thistle with Aberdeen travelling to St Johnstone the following day.

Oh how the media will be in the doldrums after the “dandy don`s” once again could not take advantage to-night after our game was called off. They most likely had their banner headlines printed but -alas it was not to be .
Has any-one ever heard so many media outlets desperate for the sheep boys overtaking Celtic at the top. That`s all their coupon`s burst again to-night. Great. Even the reporter on Sky Sports would not say that Celtic have two games in hand, but said Aberdeen had drawn level with Celtic having a better goal difference. Hail ,Hail.
Said this afternoon in the local hostelry after hearing our game was postponed, that Aberdeen suffer from that illness known as vertigo. They have fear of reaching the summit which worked out for me as I went for the draw, won a few quid, enough to allow me to let Willie Hill buy all my refreshments for the New Year without using my own cash.
Thank you Jags and Willie for making my day.

The problem with these Aberdeen failures is that it makes us believe we are good. We are still the worst we have been in several years with the worst manager in our history.
If we keep this incompetent clown around, we are in serious danger for the future. We will continue to lose millions in european failures and embarrassments.
Worst manager in our history ? Get a grip….there are quite a few who were terrible managers and even though Ronny is struggling a bit this season he is still a successful Celtic manager who has won and will continue to win trophies.
The Dons being poor just masks our problems. The Ronnie experiment hasn’t worked. I can’t stand watching anymore of this dire pedestrian football. One up front is doing my head in. Where’s the dynamic fast football we were promised. Time for a change and he can take the useless Collins with him.
