Dallas to referee Celtic Scottish Cup tie

Andrew Dallas will take charge of Celtic’s Scottish Cup tie against Stranraer on Sunday.

Despite being on the FIFA list for two years it is the first time that Dallas Jnr has refereed a match involving Celtic.

Andrew is the son of former referee Hugh and at the age of 27 has enjoyed a meteoric rise through the ranks with some observers comparing him to a young Willie Collum.

Following a match refereed by Dallas earlier this season Inverness Caley Thistle boss John Hughes said: “What I will say is that I don’t think the referee is ready for the top-flight. He might be one day but not on this evidence.

“I thought he brought a nervousness to the game which didn’t help. There were a lot of fouls and it was stop-start. As for the red card, Andrea won’t get away with a tackle like that these days.”

After a game refereed by Dallas last season Hughes said: “He’s just a young kid, learning his trade. I understand he has to get experience. But we need to look at that because I’ve never seen so many bookings.”

Steven McLean will referee the Sevco v Cowdenbeath match on Sunday.
