Furious Accrington hit out at Sevco double swoop

Accrington supremo Andy Holt has launched a fresh attack on Sevco after the troubled Championship club announced a double swoop for starlets Josh Windass and Matt Crooks.

Last night Sevco announced that the Accrington duo had signed four year contracts to move to Ibrox in the summer leaving the League Two promotion hopefuls in limbo.

While Accrington comply with Football League Financial Fair Play rules there are no such regulations in place in the SPFL.

Rather than live beyond their means with an unpaid and overdue loan for £5m owed to Sports Direct, or having a £2.5m going concern warning on their accounts, Accrington have lived within their means and are now paying the price.

It’s not illegal, but it’s not how it should be done,” Holt said after hearing about the players undergoing medicals and signing pre contract agreements.

People are telling me we’re talking to Rangers, we’re not. Whoever is talking to Rangers, it isn’t me or John (Coleman the Accrington Stanley manager). It’s important to make that distinction.

I’ve not had the club long and people are saying we are selling players. We’re not, that’s not what I’m about.”

I don’t like the way Rangers have gone about it, not picking the phone up to our manager, John Coleman.”

>Under English Football League rules clubs that overspend aren’t allowed to sign any players with Bolton, Fulham and Nottingham Forest currently banned from registering additional players in a bid to reduce their losses.

Holt has never been convicted for tax crimes or been described as a glib and shameless liar.
