Tommy Wright lashes out at disrespectful Warbo

Tommy Wright has slammed Mark Warburton for a disrespectful campaign to unsettle Michael O’Halloran.

Over the last ten days the St Johnstone boss has had to deal with constant speculation that the attacking midfielder is on his way to Ibrox.

St Johnstone have turned down two derisory bids for O’Halloran with former city trader Warbo keen to talk up transfer activity without naming names.

With the Ibrox side living month to month on crisis loans from mystery men in Hong Kong it’s more likely that the Championship promotion chasers will be selling rather than buying during the January transfer window with Dave King’s war-chest still untouched.

Hitting out yesterday at the saga Wright said: “Look, if we had the money I would be trying to go and take one of Mark Warburton’s best players.

Would he value their better players at the level they seem to value Michael at? No, he wouldn’t – and arguably Michael is playing at a higher level.

My chairman hasn’t discussed figures with me but he will have a valuation in mind and if that isn’t met Michael will remain a St Johnstone player.”

It’s believed that Sevco’s bid for O’Halloran offered £100,000 up front with the promise of staged payments involving reaching the last 16 of the Champions League.

With a £2.5m going concern warning in their audited accounts Sevco are in need of at least another £1m to see out the season. The 2015 accounts did not include the £5m repaid to Sports Direct.
