Dave King G & SBrian Donohue fears that the aims of Rangers First are being led astray.

The former Labour MP came fifth in a poll of members for the seven man board which was topped by Richard Gough.

With over a million pounds raised through subscriptions intended to buy shares in the football company it came as a surprise when Sevco announced that they had been offered- and rejected- a soft loan from the fans group.

News of that development alarmed a number of subscribers who feared that their leadership were being bought off in return for a blazer and a directors box seat alongside Paul Murray and John Gilligan.

The election of Gough has strengthened Dave Kings influence over the group with Donohue concerned that the ideals behind the group could be compromised by propping up the South African based criminal.

Speaking to the Irvine Times Donohue explained: “I want to get due diligence for Rangers First, I want to get articles of association, standing orders, and a constitution – all of which have to be fit for purpose to move this thing forward.

And if we don’t get it, then I have no option but then to walk away from it because I can’t allow my assets to be in any way shape or form affected in the event that we go into a negative situation.

Organising the innards of the board will take some time and I don’t think it can be done overnight. It’s is something there is certainly a lot of resistance to by some of those within the unit itself.

There’s proposals that I think contradict what the whole aim of Rangers First and any of the trust are in existence are all about.

There’s a lot of people with self-interest in all sorts of ways it’s not the easiest thing to overcome and i know I’m up against it in some respects but at the end of the day if i don’t get my way it’s a case of either walking out on the situation.

But we need to hire the best in the city to make our investments right, to have the best legal advice, to have good accountants and to have a reasonable set-up so we’re in a position that will not only take Rangers First forward but take the whole of the club in the direction i think it has to go.”
