Kenny McIntyre of Radio Scotland has confirmed the state broadcaster’s view of the liquidation myth by urging potential contributors to his phone-in show to move on.
Despite Rangers currently being liquidated BBC Scotland are among those pushing the bizarre notion that there was some minor financial difficulties which resulted in relegation and that anyone questioning that take on events is obsessed.
For the avoidance of all doubt Rangers Football Club had a CVA offer rejected by HER MAJESTY’S Revenue and Customs in June 2012 bringing an end to the club from Ibrox.
Having agreed to pay £5.5m (to be paid from a future share issue) for the assets, Charles Green’s Sevco consortium started talks with the SFA, SPL and SFL about getting a new club up and running, a debt free club without the £55m owed to creditors, the one involved in the Big Tax Case, as opposed to the Wee Tax Case which was a £6m bill to Her Majesty in the overall debt mountain. The sale of assets valued at over £100m for £5.5m is currently the subject of court action.
Through the likes of McIntyre and his Ibrox friendly colleagues, pundits and others at the state broadcaster, the factual events of 2012 above have been glossed over to deflect the people from the gory reality of the institution that died.
Adding the nice bits like trophies to the Sevco club but side stepping the debt has been part of the BBC narrative since 2012, giving licence for the gullible and hard of thinking to believe that their club suffered some incredible travesty of justice by being relegated three divisions because of a holding company debt.
There is plenty of factual evidence around to contradict the BBC myth, perhaps they could explain to their viewers and listeners why Steven Naismith and Allan McGregor left the club for no transfer fee?
Launching the new show phone-in show on twitter McIntyre asked for talking points for his Ibrox friendly panel to discuss with one fan clearly striking a raw nerve.
@bbckennymac @BBCSportsound have a wee look at @mintys_lamb tells ya all ya need to know. Small country please dont rock the boat I know him
BBC Kenny replied: “@davidro50017125 @bbcsportsound @mintys_lamb come on and discuss what you wish but surely this subject has had its day.”
In reply McIntyre was asked: “@bbckennymac @BBCSportsound @mintys_lamb ffs you having a laugh lies every day if you and the rest of the smsm admit liquidation dead fine.”
BBC Kenny replied: “ @davidro50017125 @bbcsportsound @mintys_lamb people have different opinions on that. Let’s move on and debate other subjects.
Among the replies to that ‘debate’ were: “@bbckennymac @davidro50017125 @BBCSportsound @mintys_lamb Never been ‘debated’ though has it? The greatest carpet-sweep of all time.
@bbckennymac @davidro50017125 @BBCSportsound @mintys_lamb Club cheated for years,stole tax money, didn’t register players but let’s move on.
@bbckennymac Sigh.So no taxpayers money has been left unpaid? No advantage was gained through illegalities? No player improp reg’d?
@bbckennymac @BBCSportsound @mintys_lamb so The Rangers are the same Club the first time ever anything has exited compulsory liquidation?
@bbckennymac @davidro50017125 @BBCSportsound @mintys_lamb We are never going to move on. Facts matter. Opinions don’t.
@bbckennymac @davidro50017125 @BBCSportsound @mintys_lamb Absolutely not. Deliberate deception by football authorities and media over Sevco.
@bbckennymac @mintys_lamb Kenny pathetic – massive effort to deny truth and re-write history and BBC say “sweep, sweep”
@bbckennymac @davidro50017125 @BBCSportsound @mintys_lamb unilaterally deciding to move on is like sticking ur fingers in ears & saying lala
@bbckennymac @davidro50017125 @BBCSportsound @mintys_lamb let’s not ! Tell the truth then by all means move on.
While the state broadcaster attempts to set the agenda and move on a significant number of fans await some form of justice on a number of issues before deciding whether it is worthwhile renewing season tickets.
With the SFA and SPL hoping for a return to the good old (firm) days fans that paid money during the EBT years are viewing a ‘sport’ that seems to have learned nothing.
A decision is expected next week on whether BDO can appeal against the 3-0 verdict in the latest stage in the Big Tax Case- no appeal means that Rangers won trophies by defrauding Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs as well as not declaring the full earnings of their players to the football authorities.
Once these questions are answered, and an explanation is given as to why the Nimmo Smith Enquiry failed to look at the period from July 1998 to November 2001, fans will be able to move forward and discuss the extent of Martyn Wahgorn’s sore knee with BBC Kenny and friends.
