Ronny Deila has no regrets over signing Scott Allan and Ryan Christie.

Both players were signed during the 2015 summer transfer window but managed just two starting appearances despite Celtic’s struggles through the season.

Allan and Christie were on the bench as Celtic put the Premiership title beyond Aberdeen with Deila confident that both players can make the breakthrough.

They have been important for the team,” the departing Celtic boss said. “I know that Ryan will be a great success in the end and Scott has trained well, he has talent.

He maybe didn’t suit the style I want to play but he can get in the team if it’s another style. I don’t think signing him was a mistake. A lot of players go for half a year and don’t play a lot.

It’s a big step going from Hibs to Celtic but he works hard. He is a good guy and he has developed this year.”

Looking at the giant sized squad he created Deila added: “Different things have happened and we have done things that we shouldn’t have — that is something you learn from.

I saw at the end of January we had too many players. Some of them were injured, we couldn’t use them so we took on extra and in the end there were too many.

Had we been involved in Europe and both cups it might have been different but it’s been too many.”

Kristofer Ajer and Liam Henderson will add to the midfield choices for Deila’s successor.
