With a few days to kill before Euro 16 kicks off and the excitement of the BetFred Cup fixture announcement cooling down ticket matters are suddenly news worthy.
It’s been a while since there was a rush for Celtic season ticket’s with the days of the ‘waiting list’ long since passed.
The appointment of Brendan Rodgers has certainly caught the imagination of Celtic supporters with the knock on effect of bringing the ticket office back to life.
Despite various marketing campaigns supporters have been voting with their feet with the emptying of the stadium obvious on a week to week basis.
Thomas Gravesen and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink were the last of the big name signings with a depressing realism setting in among supporters as they attempted to live with the idea of downsizing.
STV crew at ticket office queues. Ask fan if he was there because RFC are back? Answered ” It’s a ST I’m buying not a time machine” ????

Rodgers has still to make a signing but with that Friday tea-time announcement 17 days ago the Celtic support has been re-energised with enthusiasm meeting anticipation as the club at last looks to move forward rather than managing downward expectations.
The concept of a revived Celtic, and Celtic support, sits uncomfortably with some as they slavishly attempt to portray the post Armageddon landscape kept alive by the mythical blue pound- the same currency that couldn’t prevent it’s very own institution from liquidation in 2012.
Whether the story above is 100% accurate or not we’re not to know but it does fit in with the narrative.
A new sense of energy, purpose and commitment in the east end of Glasgow couldn’t have been predicted a month ago, for those stuck in their time machine the season ahead could be as depressing and bleak as the previous five.
Don’t think ye can deny that 7 letter word starting with R and ending with S has helped sell season tickets.
Rodgers.
