The SPFL and BetFred have tweeted an image of one of the most unlikely ever betting slips.

According to the tweet one punter put £1.40 on Dundee, Inverness and Ross County all winning 7-0 with a £1.40 stake producing winnings of £57,990.

The odds on such a bet coming up were 44,500/1- which is nine times less likely than the chances of Leicester winning the Premier League twelve months ago.

As the odds suggest the chances of those three scorelines coming in are incredibly remote and more likely to feature in an advertising campaign to promote the competition and the sponsor.

I may be the most cynical of cynics but find it hard to believe that anyone would put a single treble on that combination of results.

Some punters may have fancied a few goals in those matches and backed 5-0, 6-0 and 7-0 scorelines over all three fixtures- a single bet of £1.40 seems very unusual.

The ‘mystery punter’ had to sweat it out for his big win with the seventh goal in each match coming in the last three minutes- unless of course the punter had another betting slip for three 6-0 results.

Yordi Teijsse scoring Dundee’s seventh goal in the 88th minute, Carl Tremarco scored the seventh Inverness goal a minute earlier while Brian Graham scored number seven for Ross County in the 89th minute.

Adding to the freakish nature of the results the wins were academic for Ross County and Dundee who both went into their final match knowing that they were out of the competition.
