Scott Allan has been told that he has a Celtic future under Brendan Rodgers.

The midfielder was signed during last summer’s transfer window but barely featured under Ronny Deila with his strict 4-2-3-1 formation.

Rodgers has watched all of his players closely in training and is looking forward to seeing Allan flourish in a Celtic jersey.

Scott will definitely stay,” the new Celtic boss stated despite having a dozen midfield options. “He’s a good player who I saw when he was at West Brom.

I really like what I’ve seen of him. It’s about trying to give him a tactical understanding of the game. He’s mobile, he can press and hopefully this can be a good season for him.”

Those words will be music to the ears of the former Hibs midfielder who spent most of last season looking on from the sidelines with just the occasional cameo role to state his case.

Speaking in May about Allan and Ryan Christie Deila said: I know that Ryan will be a great success in the end and Scott has trained well, he has talent.

He maybe didn’t suit the style I want to play but he can get in the team if it’s another style. I don’t think signing him was a mistake. A lot of players go for half a year and don’t play a lot.

It’s a big step going from Hibs to Celtic but he works hard. He is a good guy and he has developed this year.”
