Qarabag, Rosenborg, Astra, Dundalk and Olimpija Ljubljana are among the potential Champions League third round opponents Celtic will face IF they see off Lincoln Red Imps on Wednesday.

With the third round first leg ties being played on July 26 and 27 having the draw at 11am Celtic Park Time allows clubs to put together two potential travel plans.

As a seeded side Celtic will avoid big hitters such as Olympiacos, Viktoria Plzen and FC Salzburg but after the 1-0 defeat in Gibraltar Brendan Rodgers side won’t be looking down on any of their potential opponents.

The third round draw is a noticeable step up in quality, last season Celtic were drawn against Qarabag after getting past Stjarnan of Iceland with only a goal from Dedryck Boyata separating the sides.

POTENTIAL OPPONENTS AND FIRST LEG SCORE

Qarabag (AZE) (2-0) Dudelange (LUX)
Rosenborg (NOR) (3-1) Norrkoping (SWE)
Astana (KAZ) (0-0) Zalgiris Vilnius (LTU)
Astra Giurgiu (ROU) 11.076
Sheriff (MDA) (2-3) Hapoel Beer-Sheva (ISR)
Crvena zvezda (SRB) (2-1) Valletta (MLT)
Dinamo Tbilisi (GEO) 2-0 Alashkert (ARM)
FH Hafnarfjördur (ISL) (1-1) Dundalk (IRL)
Tren?ín (SVK) (4-3) Olimpija Ljubljana (SVN)
Ferencváros (HUNG) (1-1) Partizani* (ALB)

It is unlikely that the draw will be regionalised meaning that a long trek to Kazakhstan or Azerbaijan is possible to reach the play-off stage of the tournament.

The winners of the third round ties go through to the play-off round while the losing sides drop into the play-off round of the Europa League.

Today’s draw can be followed live on the UEFA website and will also be shown on various television stations including Eurosport.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.
